On December 18th, 1879, Joseph Stalin was born. He was the son of Besarion Jughashvili and Ketevan Geladze. When he was age 7 he came down with smallpox which left him with scars. When he was around 10 he was injured in a carriage accident. The other village children bullied him and because of this Joseph began looking for greatness and respect.
Joseph later found Messame Dassy which is a secret organization that supported Georgian independence. After this Joseph didn't return home but he stayed giving his time to the Russian movement. In 1902, he was arrested for coordinating a Labour strike and was exiled to Siberia. During his time there he adopted the name 'Stalin' which means steel in Russian.
